It’s no secret that Maui’s beautiful beaches and warm water attract visitors from far and wide. Among those visitors is a group for over 12,000 humpback whales and their young that make the trip every year from the months of November til May. Listed are just a few ways to catch these magnificent creatures in action.

1) Pacific Whale Foundation (Maalaea or Lahaina)

The Pacific Whale Foundation focuses on marine life education and conservation, while hosting some amazing tours from standard whale watch to dinner cruises. The Pacific Whale Foundations knowledgable and hospitable crew keeps the whale watch entertaining even on days when the whale aren’t very active.

2) Quicksilver or Trilogy (Lahaina)

An adventure with either of these groups provides a great view of the whales and affordable way to catch some amazing breaches, but be sure to bring a change of dry clothes!

3) Find a Beach in South or West Maui

That’s right! You don’t even have to step on a boat to witness whales in action. It’s possible to see spouts and breaches from the beach or even the street. Whether its Big Beach in Makena, Kam 1,2 or 3 in Kihei, or hanging out on front street in Lahaina, there’s no wrong way to enjoy watching the whales this season.
