Great place to stay, cruise ships coming and going, whales swimming, surfers, fisherman, all wonderful events to wat h while resting up. House was clean, everything wotked as advertised. Would stay again.

Stunning view! So roomy for our family of 6. We loved the two separate areas. Beds were so comfortable and house was very clean and well equipped. Each room had its own AC unit which was nice too. Wish we had another day so we could have enjoyed the house more.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house and the view were perfect. Plenty of room for our party of 8. We appreciated the privacy and being so close to the beach. We had an issue with a bedroom mini-split and the host were very quick to respond.

We had a wonderful time here! This beautiful house was really clean and is exactly like the pictures. As soon as we got there we wanted to just stay there and forget about all our other activities. We felt right at home and had enough room for a party of 6.
The Host was very kind and responsive, checks in on us making sure we were comfortable and if we needed anything else.
We definitely recommend booking with this Host!

Great host. The downstairs TV broke, they fixed it the same day.
We never felt unsafe with the locals in the park next door. They were always nice and courteous. Beds were cozy. AC worked great. Kitchen was equipped to cook full meals all week.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy home. I was happy to find a place where my whole family could stay for our trip. It’s clean, quiet and the view is amazing! My favorite part is the downstairs area which has a very large kitchenette and an exit to a grassy area so you can have a picnic. The ocean breeze can be a bit strong, but not bothersome.
You will not regret renting from vacaMaui. Their response time is unbeatable.

The home was a beautiful place for our team to meet and plan the year as well as relax. It provided wonderful space to gather insight and outside the home and the kitchens upstairs and downstairs were a great bonus. We had a wonderful stay in Kahului and the host was extremely communicative, transparent, and flexible. We had the most minor of inconveniences with a tripped breaker and they were able to get it fixed next morning quickly and discretely and do not impact our stay whatsoever. Highly recommend this pace for larger parties visiting Maui as the space was more than enough for our party of eight and provided a great relax after frequenting beaches, shops, and restaurants all day!

Such an awesome stay! The house was super spacious and perfect for me and my ohana, plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. The beds were seriously comfy, and you can’t beat that beautiful oceanfront view. We spent so much time just hanging out and soaking it all in. Communication with the host was easy and fast. They were really great to work with. The dryer took a little longer than expected, but we let the host know and they were super cool and responsive about it. All around, a great spot and we’d definitely stay here again!

We absolutely loved our stay at this house. It’s tucked into a peaceful, local-feeling neighborhood that gave us a true sense of Maui—far from the crowded resorts and tourist chaos. It felt like we were immersed in real island life.
The house itself was clean, comfortable, and perfectly set up for relaxing with our family. We spent mornings sipping coffee with ocean views, and evenings walking the beach just steps away. It was quiet, breezy, and just what we needed to reset.
One of our favorite moments was watching our kids—the only ones on a stunning stretch of beach—playing near the ocean swing, while surfers and fishermen carried on nearby. It was magical and something we’ll never forget.
If you're looking for a relaxing, off-the-beaten-path experience with local charm and plenty of breathing room, this place is perfect.

Vacation home
The house was nice in a great location. We met the neighbors and everyone was very nice. We did not realize it was 2 separate living spaces. To get upstairs, you had to go outside. It was fine for us but we did feel separated from the other 2 families

I stayed here this past weekend with my 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren for a family event...3 nights. The text notifications were extremely helpful and eliminated any questions about our stay. The entire house (upstairs and downstairs) was very clean, nice and comfortable. Although we were primarily here to shower and sleep, the air conditioning throughout the house ensured comfortable temperatures inside whenever we returned to rest or regroup. We will definitely be staying here again should our entire family return to Maui. Thank you for ensuring we had a very comfortable stay.

Amazing house in a beautiful location. The beach is rocky but you can walk up to a sandy area easily. There is a super gorgeous tree swing in the park nextdoor that our kids loved walking to. We loved the neighborhood cat, Buddy, and watching the locals fishing out front.

Great location
This house is at great location. Ocean right in the backyard with views is awesome. Although there is no beach as such but if you like to surf this is perfect. House is nicely kept and has all essentials. We were 8 of us and it was very comfortable. Although it would have been ideal to have another half bathroom downstairs as there is only one shared full bath but it was not too much of an inconvenience. Overall we had great experience and enjoyed our stay!

The home and property were very nice and just as described. It was a very quick inter island trip for us so we didn't get to explore, but it was a perfect place to relax for the evening and watch the sunrise in the morning. There was some difficulty with the internet but the host was very responsive and we got it sorted out. The views are amazing and listening to the waves throughout the night was fantastic. Will definitely be looking for this property to be available again on future trips!

House site borders the shoreline. Excellent surfing right out the door. My adult sons had a great time in the water there as there were not many surfers as So CAL. Actual house was set up well for maximum privacy. It is in excellent shape. Good kitchen with proper equipment. Variety of knives.
Washing machine and dryer are large and in good shape.
Bed mattresses were very comfortable. area
Bathroom were well designed Master shower was spacious. The HVAC worked really well.
The shoreline was rock but had a couple places with sand for kids to play in.
Would I rent the place again. YES.
Only negative is the neighborhood not great for walking around other houses not as nice as the rental. Felt safe and people friendly.

Excellent location for surfing and outstanding service from VacaMaui. This property is perfect for two families, as each floor offers a level of separation and privacy. The house features two kitchens and two living rooms, which is very convenient. Definitely a five-star experience.
One consideration is that surfers and fishermen often walk through the backyard and along the side of the house. As a recommendation, it would be beneficial for VacaMaui to install 'No Trespassing' signs with the relevant violation code throughout the property, as well as security cameras, to deter strangers who may feel entitled to cross onto private property.

The property is absolutely beautiful. You can watch the turtles and stingrays playing in the waves and go to sleep listening to the ocean. The owner is extremely attentive and very responsive. We would definitely stay here again!

- High standard amenities with no restrictions on usage
Cons:
- Folks used to resort accommodations may find this less appealing. The plot on one side has a run down home and the other side is a weed patch (cannot blame the owners though for this)

Nice place. The top and bottom are like completely different units and the only connection is via an outside staircase. The ocean was beautiful and the sound of the waves were excellent. Would rent again if 2 families were going.

202 Lower Waiehu Beach Rd. is a charming, comfortable home. The interior is clean and well maintained. All beds are spacious, with clean linens, plenty of towels, dishes, utensils, etc. We mostly used it as a launching pad, as there is so much to see on Maui. We were pleased to relax at the end of a day's outing on the back side of the property where the ocean waves rhythmically crash against the shore.

this house was super spacious. there was more then enough room for my group. the up-stairs down-stairs set up was perfect for putting the louder teenagers on the bottom. the sun rise was epic watching it rise over Haleakala. the location was great, far enough where you don't hear traffic but everything was only a 5-10 min drive. there is a big yard to play games and have a BBQ.
the property manager was super helpful and quick to respond. over all a 5 stars.
the only down side was when it rained the tile balcony was a little slippery. The next time I travel with a group I will definitely be look up this property again.

My girlfriends and I had never been to Maui and it was an amazing experience. Besides the obvious of our vacation destination, the host always responded very quickly and was over the top accommodating. We requested an early check in and late check out and after the host confirmed availability we were approved for both. So very grateful and very much recommend the place. It’s basically two entire houses for the price of one. The beach equipment was a I’ve bonus! Umbrellas, chairs, boogie boards, and an ice chest. All we needed was ice and sunshine to have an amazing time. Thank you!

Such a beautiful location on the beach! It was peaceful and fun to sit outside in the shade during the morning hours eating breakfast and watching the surfers. We even walked down to the beach (which had river rocks, not sand) and let the water wash over our feet and legs. You really do get a spectacular view. The neighbors are quiet and respectful. Would consider staying here again, if visiting Maui.

What a gem! I got lucky able to book this charming seaside cottage last minute. Not far from the airport. Beach front, private, clean, homey, super response host. We wake up to the sound of the ocean, took daily walk on the beach, moonlit ocean front scenery, couldn’t be more perfect. Thank you for an amazing stay. Definitely coming back!

This place is perfect for your family or group trips. Beautiful view having the ocean waves crashing right out the back door. Another great thing was having access to the boogie boards and chairs this place provided for our trip without having to rent either. Location was great and only about 10-15 minutes from the airport with a few grocery stores along the way to the house. Baseball field and golf course also within walking distance.

The location is excellent if you want to avoid tourist hot spots. Beautiful beaches nearby, and a fantastic wildlife preserve not far away. Hosts were very responsive and friendly! The house itself is a little rundown, but all the most important stuff is there: beach access, deck with a view, functional kitchen, parking. Downstairs smells musty but upstairs is pretty nice. If you have a bunch of folks to house, the price definitely beats hotels. If you're planning a vacation where the point is to be outside most of the day, this place will suit you just fine!

We spent a lovely few days in Maui and stayed at this location. You are about 40 minutes away from the resort area which for us was fine because we spent one day doing Road to Hana and another day we did the Haleakala submit. We kept making our way back to Paia for the food and guava ice cream so for us this was the perfect location. There is no beach directly behind the house to walk on so keep that in mind if that is what you’re looking for. Overall, the place is clean and that for me is the most important thing when choosing a place to stay. Would definitely stay here again.

I spent 10 days/nights here with my two adult children and my parents. We enjoyed this place so much that we already miss it! One of the most relaxing vacations we ever had. In the early morning, we had our coffee outside watching the waves crash into the shore. It’s always windy, but the air smells amazing. Only a few minutes of walk along the stony beach or the nearby road, you’ll get a beautiful, secluded sandy beach. There are some sharp stones in the water, so you might want to wear something on your feet just in case. VacaMaui provides large umbrellas and beach chairs, and we used those on that beach as well as a couple of the snorkeling equipment. It was perfect! Everything else you need is close by. A short drive to the supermarkets or Costco, the central location is also great if you want to explore all of Maui - from Lahaina to Hana. Now I’m back in LA, sad every morning that I’m not having the beach house luxury anymore. Fair warning: it’s quite depressing. One really gets used to the beauty and it’ll leave a hole in your heart.

Our group of 7 fit perfectly. The house was just as pictured. We enjoyed the oceanfront view & soothing sounds of the waves. Great Property with the beach as your Backyard
My family and I spent a week at this house and thoroughly enjoyed it! We especially enjoyed the beach/ocean immediately behind the home. It was equipped with several body boards, ice chest and beach chairs that we used all week. The functioning kitchen upstairs was great and the kitchenette downstairs was handy for quick stuff. December 2021 Family Get a
Josh, the property owner did a good job describing this property. Reading the other reviews were helpful as well. As the July 2018 review states: Advise everyone to have appropriate expectations since this home IS at the edge of the ocean and becomes weathered with salt and wind. We did enjoy listening to the waves, sifting through the driftwood on the beach and watching the beautiful sunrises. The surfers were right next door, evidentially it’s a favorite spot for local surfers, which were fun to watch. Some cons: the dishwasher does not do a good job washing the dishes. Buy a non-stick pan, the lockboxes were hard to open and shut. Pros: right on the beach, 15 minutes from Costco, Safeway and Whole Foods, in a residential area, sandy beach and surfers right next door, comfy beds and soft sheets. We enjoyed our time there and it worked well for our group of six. Josh did a great job with communication, including sending us information way in advance on arrival and departure info, house manual, places to eat, hikes, beaches, transportation, grocery stores and a map of the island.

Pros: onsite parking, location to airport, groceries, supplies, and major shoreline and beach access by car. House if rent whole property is spacious and our 2 families had privacy but able to have wonderful meals on the lanai with a fantastic view of the shoreline and public area next door of local fisherman and surfers in the wee mornings. Dinners on the outside huge grill fantastic in the evenings...though might need some lanterns later as flood lights are motion sensing.. The abandoned buildings next door did not pose an issue for us visually and did not see any signs of transients in this residential area. The sound of the surf is sleep inducing as are the breezes at night on the top floor and views from top and master bedrooms gorgeous in the morning to wake up to. Small beach a short distance away but for the spectacular views and turtles I recommend Baldwin State Park...not as crowded as Kaanapali or Kapalua and not as touristy. Baldwin is only a few minutes away by car and short ride to Paia (must see town) on way to Hana. Nice supplies for beach provided as well as outdoor furniture and huge grill. Kick ass laundry and drier. Bring your own dishwasher detergent (we left a bottle on the sink).
Cons: House cleanliness okay for an older home on a beach, but in bathrooms not what expected from a superhost (mold caking on old tubs was an issue in this beach house in the baths and showers and no bleach around to clean it up ourselves...sent photos to host and hopefully will clean it up for you) and had a repairman coming in on July 4th at 9 am doing repairs to stairs, door, air conditioner on first floor master...though we were out luckily for the day, he was there in late afternoon when we got back and air-condition repaired. Kitchen amenities are basic and suggested and hope they take our suggestions to get a coffee maker for upstairs and tea kettle and repair icemaker upstairs.
Overall: 4 stars
All in all if you are not looking for a pristine resort like experience but a quiet getaway place for your family to chill and explore, this is a great value and if a little TLC can be done to this little gem, we would stay again! Would have given 5 stars but this is a superhost listing so manage your expectations ahead of time and you will have a great time!

The house is a residential neighborhood right by the ocean. There is nothing to do around the house, but it is in a convenient location for driving tours to all interest points around the island and close to the airport. There is no beach by the house - the sea is rough and water is not easily to access. Keep in mind all beaches are public in Maui, so there might be people fishing right in your back yard.
The house needs maintenance and is not very comfortable for a leisurely vacation (upstairs and downstairs are completely separate, backyard faces abandoned buildings to one side and public park to the other) but is perfectly fine if your large family will be out of the house for an entire day and you just need a place to sleep.
It was nice to have some beach gear at the house (sand toys, chairs, body boards, snorkel gear etc ), but make sure the snorting gear is complete and try out the masks before heading out to the beach as not all is complete/functional.
The kitchen is sufficiently equipped with all the necessities and the internet is fast. The hosts provides a tiny tube of body wash per bathroom so be ready to either bring your own toiletries or buy some right after you arrive. Don’t get surprised, like we did.
All and all, we liked our stay and the house worked well for our group. The management company is very responsive if there are any issues and the check in is easy, regardless of when you arrive.
Hearing the ocean at night was amazing!

The number of bedrooms and space was perfect for our group, and definitely a great find since many condos available on the island are smaller. The house is a little older than the pictures make it look, but that’s not a dealbreaker. The provided beach toys, towels, chairs and umbrellas were extremely useful. The neighborhood was quiet. Seriously wonderful. We didn’t realize that the upstairs and downstairs are separate and have functional dining and living spaces (full kitchen upstairs, fridge/sink/food prep area downstairs). This ended up being amazing for our group traveling with small children. Great location on the north side of the island. We spent a lot of our time in Paia and Ho’okipa. House is conveniently 10-15 mins from Ioa trailhead, easily accessible to Road to Hana, and ~1.5 hours from Haleakalā. We ended up eating most of our meals in the morning and evening at the house because of the view. Unreal. We utilized the snorkel gear and Josh made sure we had everything we needed for travel with a 7 month old. The neighborhood was friendly and it had a local feel. Highly recommend.

Staycation was great at our favorite surf spot! Boys got to fish right off the lawn and AC was nice and cool on these hot days. Not a huge deal but the grill was out of propane and had not been cleaned from previous users. Overall it is a beautiful view and lawn outdoor area for cruising and fishing and spending time with family. We liked how it is a separate upstairs and downstairs. We enjoyed our stay at this home in Maui. The place was as expected. The view was great but the pictures are a little misleading as there was not a table to eat at outside and the ocean was a few feet away from the house. The hosts were accommodating with an early check in since the unit was cleaned and ready. The unit was a bit out dated but very comfortable. They had a ton of beach stuff that was great for the family. We overall enjoyed our stay.

This house was great for what we needed. We had an event nearby and we had several people with us so the space was good. Being right on the ocean was amazing even though there is not a beach, just rocks. The house was okay but the pictures were a little misleading. We expected to be in a local neighborhood but we did not expect there to be houses (shacks) all rundown and boarded up next door. It was a little shocking to be honest.
The sitting areas were not very comfy and we couldn’t get the tv upstairs to work. But other than that, we enjoyed our stay.
We didn’t surf but it seamed like a great place to surf. There were lots of surfers directly out from the house.
One other thing to note is that we had several local surfers in the yard using the hose attached to the house. Not a big deal for us but this could be a problem for others.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It’s located in front of the ocean. While you can get in the water from the house, it’s a rocky shore. However, there’s a small sandy beach a few steps away from the house. The house is located next to a couple of abandoned house, but we had no issues whatsoever. It felt safe even while stargazing at 1am in pitch darkness.
The house had everything we needed for our stay: boogie boards, snorkeling gear, beach umbrellas, plenty towels and even a cooler, a Vitamix for smoothies, and beds were cozy! We used all of the amenities during our stay.
The only thing people complained about about was the stuffiness on the downstairs unit. We also had a small ant issue (make sure to put all foods in the fridge!). All this is out of Josh’s control and expected in a tropical island, though.
Josh was also super quick to respond and accommodating. Overall, an excellent host. We’d definitely consider staying here in the future.

This location was very fun to be at. Very close to the beach just to relax and play a hit in the sand. Not too suitable for swimming though with all the rocks, but if you’re daring you can do it.
I forgot how humid it could be during warm weather, but that’s not at all the host’s fault. They are very responsive and take care of any issues.

This is a spacious and very comfortable home. If you want to be away from the more touristic West side, this home is ideal. Location of home is close to Wailuku where there is great dining and you can easily pick up bento lunches from several establishments for your daily adventures. We also found having the amenities of beach towels, snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs and Igloo enabled us to spend more time doing the things we love then worrying about buying or renting them. While there is no ability to swim right outside the home the beach is not that far away. We didn’t need to request anything from our host and his greetings both at the beginning and at the end of our stay was timely and so thoughtful. This is a perfect property for families traveling in large size. We had a group of 8 people coming from two in-law families. The two floor setup was perfect for both families to hang out while still preserving privacy. Josh is a great host, who is always available to answer any question day and night. The house came with abundant amount of swimming and snorkeling gear which we benefited from during our beach trips. As it is located right next to the ocean, it’s almost a must-do to throw some ribeyes onto the grill and have some BBQ time along the ocean breeze. One more note: although the house is located in residential area, it’s very close to nearby grocery stores (<5 mins drive) and other services.

Our family of eight adults had a great stay at Josh's place! Sitting in the front yard with our morning coffee or an early evening cocktail with the waves crashing in and the occasional turtle sighting in was a really great experience. The description of the home and area is accurate - you're not likely to be swimming out front and your activities will likely be a drive away but the location is very central - easy to get to the North Shore beaches (Baldwin was our favorite beach for swimming and just down the road, we saw about 60 turtles hanging out on the beach at Ho'okipa Beach Park). It was also easy to jump on Hwy 30 or 311 to get to Lahaina and Kihei/Wailea respectively.
A few members of our family were initially a bit uneasy with the proximity to the boarded up houses but quickly settled in and felt safe. Chatted with a few of the locals fishing or hanging out in the area and they were lovely.
All in all - we had a great experience. This is not the Ritz Carlton but if you want an oceanfront home in Maui, you're not likely to find a better value than this.

This Airbnb was absolutely perfect. We were able to book this place on such short notice, and I am glad we did! You definitely get a bang for your buck staying at Josh's place.
Everything was as described in the listing. Check-in was hassle free due to great communication. I have no complaints as far as the home goes. I do wish the coastline was accessible to swim and whatnot, but that wasn't an issue.
Lots of room if you are looking for somewhere that can accomadate a big group. We could not locate extra linen and pillows for the pull out couches, but we just took whatever we could from the rooms.
As far as location, this airbnb is located in a local residential area, so don't be alarmed if it isn't well lit or anything. The unoccupied houses to the left did give it a kind of eerie/sketchy vibe, but only at night! Other than that, we definitely reccomend booking if given the oppurtunity!

The place was exactly what we wanted; a place on the water, private, large enough for 6 and in a good location. We didn’t want a resort vacation but a more authentic experience. Josh helped us with recommendations in advance. He had equipment for us to use (fishing rods, boogie boards, snorkeling gear and beach towels). It made things so easy. A grocery store was nearby. Beds were super comfortable. Loved every minute of this trip!

Josh is a great host. Very accommodating and quick to respond. His place is great for a large group and offers a lot of amenities to allow for a comfortable trip. His washer and dryer came in very handy and there were lots of towels/beach towels available. The view of the ocean from the house is great during the daytime. I thought the location was actually pretty convenient. It's close to the airport and a lot of great restaurants with good parking in central Maui. It takes about an hour to get to other areas of Maui but I feel that is better than staying further west and taking even longer to get to areas of interest on the east side. The neighborhood is very dark at night time as the area is not very well lit but I think this is to be expected at a beach house away from city lights. Do expect bugs and the . You can't access the beach right in front of you but it was still nice. Josh provides a travel size shampoo, body wash, and bar of soap per bathroom but, if you anticipate this will not last you during your trip, I suggest bringing some. Overall it was a nice stay.

Absolute awesome place, the location is right on the ocean, you can’t beat the constant wave crashing and breeze through the home. The upstairs master bed was very comfortable. Would highly recommend for those wanting more privacy and less tourist traffic. Minutes from airport, Ioa Needle, and Paia. Good jump start to Haleakalā and Road to Hana. Beach equip through house for use. Would stay again!

We were in Maui for about a week and stayed at Josh's place, with my in-laws and several children.
Communication was near instant, even when I had initial trouble trying to get in to the house as well as other questions before/during/after my stay.
Some previous travelers noted an issue with ants, and I do agree that this is an issue. However, consider that because you're on an island, seeing ants and other bugs are almost always going to be the norm. There was ant/bug spray available at the house and depending on your comfort level, YMMV.
The views in the backyard, even when rain would fall, are amazing and the pictures aren't enough to see for yourself. Because you have to see it for yourself!
Overall, I would definitely come back. I already miss it!

House was clean, there are bath towels and beach towels in every room. Plus boogie boards and snorkel gear. The fenced in yard is very large and great for frisbee or football if the wind dies down enough. The houses next door are derelict, with no one living in them. Not a big deal really, just visually unappealing. There is a fence between the properties. Also there is a small ant issue in the upper space. Just meant we needed to clean spills up and not leave out any chopped fruit too long. Grocery is pretty close and so is some restaurants/night life. Also if you want sandy beaches makes sure to walk down the beach, past the outcrop of rock (left if you are looking at the ocean). It’s not far!

The pluses on this home are many. This is a great location right on the water. Sitting on a lounge chair on the grass with a cup of coffee, watching the local surfers and enjoying the morning was perfect. We are a large family and the house provided ample room for us all along with beach chairs, towels and boogie boards for trips out to the beach. The house is also nicely private with a bank of greenery on one side and a derelict property on the other which was not much to look at, but it meant there were no neighbors which, again, made it nicely private. The house is a bit tired, especially the lower half, and there was a significant ant problem which was really an issue. If the bugs are taken care of it will make the place much more liveable. The host was extremely approachable and helpful with our issues, which I appreciated very much.

This place was beautiful and we had such a good time, the yard and grass is huge and the house was clean and had everything we needed - I would definitely stay here again! We did find that the beach 50 yards down was still very rocky (big rocks, hard to walk on!) but that just could have been the time of year, and there were some abandoned houses next door that were unsightly but the water view was incredible, the sunset and the size of the property made up for it! and there are lots of chairs, snorkel gear and boogie boards that we used while visiting. Josh answered any questions we had and was a great host. Thanks again!

Lovely place right on the water. The beach outside is mostly rocks though so you'll have to be careful if you are getting in the water. The location is also a little distant from island activities but it is kind of nice to be away from all the hustle and bustle of the larger cities. The place was very quiet and peaceful and you cannot beat the view. The hosts are the best and communication was excellent. They go out of their way to make sure you get anything you need. Would recommend if you dont mind being about 40 minutes from lahaina which is the primary location on the island for tourists.

We stayed 3 nights at Josh's beautiful beach home and everything was as expected. We loved the view and the water. The house is not in the tourist area, it's about 15 minutes from the airport. We had a van so it didn't matter as we also loved the quietness of the neighbourhood. This home has everything! Beach umbrellas, snorkelling gear, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels....we had everything we needed for the the beach! The beds and pillows were really comfortable. Air conditioning in every room, full kitchen ... Oh and a cooler for beach days! We really enjoyed the beach house!

Josh’s place is clean with all the mod cons. It’s close proximity to the airport is ideal. A short drive to the local supermarket made getting groceries easy and cheap. With all the Maui within an hours drive from the residence, a car is a must to be able to get around easily. If we come back to Maui, I will be looking at Josh’s place to see if it’s available!

The first thing I noticed when walking into the beach house was how clean everything was! The homes on each level were thoughtfully decorated and there were items such as beach chairs and coolers and reasonably stocked kitchens items that I felt made our first couple days of vacation a smooth transition. The yard work was trimmed and the environment was private. Hard to beat being right by the ocean! The neighbors were friendly and were not loud or disruptive. Josh checked in with us regularly and I appreciated it. My family thoroughly enjoyed staying at Joshs place!

Get the “local” feel
Let me start by saying that we really enjoyed our time at this home. Our group consisted of 2 families (4 adults, 2 teenagers & 2 kids in their 20’s). The home was plenty spacious for us all, and was well stocked with towels, snorkel gear, beach chairs, etc. We chose to have the parents stay in the upstairs unit, and kids downstairs. Access to the nearest beach is just about 50 yards down the street, and we spent countless hours on the back patio, enjoying the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks at the edge of the property. The home is conveniently located, but not in the typical “tourist” areas. You’ll find yourself primarily amongst locals, not resorts and hotels. In fact, I’m not sure I saw a building more than two stories tall. WalMart, Target, and several grocery stores are near by, convenient to provision your stay. Josh, the owner, was extremely accommodating. He allowed us to arrive a little ahead of our scheduled “check-in” time, and checked in with us periodically throughout our stay. It’s also very apparent that he’s continuing to maintain and improve the property. Even during our stay, he was having a very nice privacy fence installed at the edge of the property; helping to buffer from an unattractive property next door. Lastly, I’d advise everyone to have appropriate expectations. This is a home that IS at the edge of the ocean. If you understand how salt and wind impacts a home, then you’ll understand that there will always be some amount of “weathering”, even with constant maintenance and upkeep. If you need the Ritz Carlton, this home is not for you. If you want clean, comfortable, private, and to be immersed in the local environment, it’ll be a perfect fit. Mahalo

This house provides you with so much! The attention to detail is really great! Each room has boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, and mats. Also plenty of beach towels too! It was central located which made it great for going exploring everyday. We also loved falling asleep with the sound of the waves crashing right outside your room. Joshs Unterkunft entspricht im Großen und Ganzen den Bildern. Sie liegt außerhalb der Touristenhochburgen aber wundervoll zentral um alle wichtigen Orte der Insel zu erkunden. Das Meer ist atemberaubend - aber Vorsicht vor der Strömung und dem steinigen Untergrund. Das Haus hat eine ordentliche Grundstattung und zusätzlich Schnorchelausrüstung, Badematten, Sonnenschirme, Grill und Bodyboards.
Man sollte bedenken, dass durch die Nordlage das Wetter etwas rauer ist, was natürlicherweise auch Spuren am Haus hinterlässt.
Als Gruppe von sechs Personen hatten wir alle ausreichend Platz- gerade die Anzahl der Bäder war von Vorteil!
Danke an Josh für die schnellen Antworten und seine Bemühungen unseren Aufenthalt angenehm zu gestalten!

Josh was very accommodating and always quick to respond. The place is perfect for a large family with a separate upstairs and downstairs. There are two bedrooms in each of the units, and a sofa bed (downstairs) and a couple air mattresses. The view was pleasant and the house was less than 10 minutes from Kahului airport. Very convenient location with quick access to Costco, Whole Foods, and a couple fast food places. A rental car is a must to get around the island. Very nice touches around the house.

We had two families of four stay at joshes place. It was a perfect location to have us our homebase. We got around the island very easily from this location. It was wonderful to sleep with the windows open and have the waves crashing on the shore. One evening we had a fire in a little fire pit and it was so relaxing. There was enough room for everybody and we felt just like at home. Everything that Josh says that place is is true. He offered all kinds of items for us to use on the beach from chairs to beach towels and beach ch we had two families of four stay at joshes place. It was a perfect location to have as our homebase. Blessed in Maui!
We traveled with 3 other couples to Maui to celebrate over 140 years of wedding anniversaries between us. We wanted a house near the ocean and we came across this charming direct oceanfront north shore beach house. First, the owner Josh, was extremely responsive to each and every inquiry we had prior to and during our visit. When we arrived we weren't disappointed. We were a short stones throw from the ocean and the house comfortably handled 8 adults. The rooms were spacious and accommodating. The kitchens were well stocked with all essential amenities to allow us to make breakfasts each morning and several evening dinners. It would have been nice to have 4 bathrooms with our situation, but it was never an issue. A family would find this house to met all their needs. They had beach chairs, snorkel equipment, travel guides, and other items to make for a wonderful vacation in Maui. The location of the house was in an older part of town, but once we met our neighbors we were at ease and settled into our daily routines. We were close to shopping and restaurants and within a short driving distance to numerous activities, such as, whale watching, golf, and beaches. Our favorite time was placing 8 chairs along the back of the house with coffee in hand as we watched God raise the sun each morning. The views were breathtaking and we saw numerous whales that greeted us with "pec slapping" and a now and again breach just to show off. The difficult part of our trip was saying goodbye. We were very thankful that Josh and his family shared their home with us. We were truly blessed in Maui!

Incredible vacation home, away from the touristy areas for a laid back relaxing stay, and close to all amenities and island activities. We loved the space for our family of seven and a yard for our 3 year old grandson. We watched humpback whales while enjoying our morning coffee from the yard, an amazing sight. It was a 5 minute walk to a beach. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious, the house is updated and well kept.

The house sits right on the water and has a beautiful view. Lots of additional amenities are provided (beach towels/umbrella, body boards, coolers, etc...). It’s one of the better deals you will find in Maui should you be looking to accommodate a larger group. The upper two rooms and kitchen and living area were newer and brighter with lots of windows, and the downstairs has a walkout toward the ocean. It was great for us!

Great location with a beautiful view!
We enjoyed our stay here! Coffee on the patio every morning while watching the sunrise. And then , the surfers come out so you can sit and have a second cup while watching the surfers. Really enjoyed listening to the waves at night as we fell asleep, too. We loved this home for a number of reasons...central to many different activities but allowed us privacy (not in the resort area) and space to relax, beautiful views, and Josh was so helpful with suggestions for beaches! Wonderful location right on the shores of Maui where the waves crash all day, cargo and cruise ships pass in the distance, and surfers/paddle boarders ride the waves right in front. Josh was quick to respond to all our questions. The house has four large bedrooms and two kitchens plus two big screen TVs when you're not in back looking at the ocean.

Nice house, centrally located but could use a few more amenities.
The house is centrally located and on the coast. Waking up to the waves every morning was just what we needed! The house is comfortable but could use some cleaning in the kitchen and bathroom areas. (Grease build up, dirty grout and some dirty dishes were found) I was in the upstairs master room and loved the bed! The sheets and mattress were soft and very comfortable! We did run short on towels and washcloths since there were only a few laundry pods that we saved to wash beach towels at the end of the trip. Upstairs kitchen was pretty well stocked but my family staying in the lower portion of the house said theirs was lacking a few things and needing to be cleaned as well. They provided snorkel sets, boogie boards and chairs in each room which was awesome and very much appreciated! Not sure if our set got overlooked but there was a lot of sand on our snorkel set that we had to scrub out prior to using. Overall we really enjoyed the house but wish some more amenities would have been provided.

This house is perfect for a family vacation. Comfortable sleeps 4 couples. Wifi and TVs work well and are modern. Kitchens are adequate for preparing meals. If you plan on cooking, consider bringing seasoning/oil or be prepared to purchase some. Perhaps, ask josh in advance of therr any available?
Josh is a good host. He is very responsive, within minutes, and informative. Snorkel and beach gear (chairs and umbrellas) are available in the house which s saves $$.
Can't beat access to the ocean. If you are ok with a rocky beach, just walk out into the water. Costco, Walgreens, etc all within a few min drive.
If you enjoy hiking, the waihee ridge trail is a short drive up the 340 and a beatuiful trail. About a 45 min hike up.

This house was perfect for our group of friends, during our week stay on Maui. Its proximity to the airport is optimal. Josh was quick to respond to questions before and during our stay. He offered great tips and ideas for our trip. The ocean front is a bonus and having beach chairs, boogie boards and snorkel gear, really came in handy. Our family of nine enjoyed our stay at the beach house. It has everything we needed. The location was close to grocery stores and gas stations.
We enjoyed sitting on the lawn chairs to enjoy the beautiful ocean view while sipping on morning coffee.
All the beach umbrellas, chairs, and snorkel gears that Josh provided were so useful! He even provided beach toys for the kids to play in the sand.

We loved the location and spent every morning there, watching a gorgeous sunrise, every afternoon walking the shoreline and what better way to fall asleep than the natural light of the moon and the waves crashing just outside your sliding door. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it started with the very first contact with Josh. He was quick to respond and gave us detailed and excellent advice on just about everything there is to do on Maui. We had our parents with us and the separation between upstairs and down, was perfect! The house was clean with special touches throughout (I especially loved the deco) It was great to have snorkel gear, beach chairs and umbrellas, boogie boards, binoculars, a great Maui guidebook and even a friendly neighbor! My family came to relax! The convenience of this home made us feel like locals. We saved time by not needing elevators or valets. There was all the comforts of home so you don't need to pack everything, you have access to a washer and dryer. The best part is that Josh has equipped each bedroom with beach chairs, snorkel sets, boogie boards, umbrellas, and beach chairs. We packed picnic lunches for our beach days, all in Kihei/Makenna area. Our family enjoyed Da Kitchen for local dishes and Four Sisters Bakery, both located in Wailuku. Don't forget to visit Iao Valley which is close by too.
Josh was very easy to work with and quick to respond. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a relaxing vacation.

Spacious house with an ocean view
We recently stayed 4 nights at this property. There were seven of us and we all had plenty of space and comfort. The location is close to the airport and centrally located for easy access to most of the island. The interior had been recently renovated. Although the exterior needs additional TLC, this didn't interfere with the great time we had during our stay. The outdoor space is great and the beautiful ocean front view is wonderful, with the only complaint being the abandoned , run down properties next door. The owners were very helpful and very easy to communicate with. Overall the pluses greatly outweighed the minuses. I would consider this property again if we ever have the opportunity to return to Maui.

I'm glad you had a good time and thank you for the kind words. I also appreciated the critiques of the property. We actually painted the entire exterior about 18 months ago. Being 20 feet from the water the outside requires constant maintenance. After your stay we spent 3 days touching up all exterior paint. We also planted $5,000 worth of palms about 18 months ago between us and the house next door. They all died off from being so close to the water. We have been testing different plants and hibiscus have done well. We are planting hibiscus between the house next door to create a hedge. Nice house just steps from the ocean.
Really cute house right on the water. We had a lot of fun picking out shells and drift wood along the shore. Good amount of room - we had two adults and five kids and we all fit easily. Would definitely recommend!

The Wailuku Beach House was a perfect fit for our family vacation. It was centrally located in Maui and made it easy for all our day trips. Each flat had comfortable beds (and AC on hotter days/nights), plenty of space, stocked well with towels, kitchen items, leisure items, and even bathroom items. Josh even provided pack n' plays for our babies. Having access to the washer and dryer was key with kiddos. There was an issue with a leak in a half bath, but Josh was proactive in getting it fixed. It never got in the way of our vacation. We grilled out one evening as a Costco and Whole Foods were very close. The best part was watching the sun rise while sipping Hawaiian coffee over the breakers each and every morning. There was a little patch of sand for the kiddos but the beach was very rocky and the currents very strong (perfect for you wind surfers but not snorkelers or kids). We did see a sea turtle swim close one day! The kids made friends with the geckos. There was a little lawn for our rowdy kiddos to run and play, but we went to local "Baby Beaches" for our younger ones. Josh provided snorkeling gear, umbrellas, boogie boards, sand toys, and beach chairs. I would recommend this beach house if you are looking to have a comfortable home base for a relaxing, soaking in the local culture kind of vacation.

We had a fantastic time at this property! The house was perfect and location was gorgeous right on the ocean. We appreciated all of the amenities including beach chairs, snorkel gear and plenty of towels. Josh was fantastic and incredibly accommodating. This was a great location to get over to Paia, the road to Hana and Mama's Fish House. We will be back!!!

Absolutely amazing! We had everything we needed. If you are visiting Maui I would highly recommend this beach house. It is the perfect mix of beach life and privacy. We grilled out, visited several restaurants, went hang gliding, took the helicopter tour, the luau, and enjoyed being at the house by the beach. The kids had a great time and the trampoline was a perfect addition. I purchased an inflatable pool and pump we deflated, cleaned, let dry. The house is clean and very beautifully decorated. An amazing vibe inside and out. If we ever have an opportunity to visit again we would love to stay at the house again. I will recommend to everyone!

Amazing house!
I was thoroughly amazed by this oceanfront house! It's very spacious and great for a family looking to visit Maui. We loved the fact that there were two separate kitchen / living areas so the kids could nap separately as needed. It's centrally located to the airport. The hosts were amazing and even provided us with pack 'n plays! They were so friendly, helpful and extremely responsive. One thing to note about the house is that there aren't any inside stairs connecting the two levels of the house. However, this wasn't really a problem as there were external stairs that were easy to use.

Beautiful location for a wonderful family trip
We loved our stay on Maui at Josh's family's home. They were incredibly easy to communicate with, the location was beautiful and so much more fun to be in a home than at some touristy resort. Truly nothing like falling asleep to the waves every night and waking up to the sun rising over the ocean. We only wished we had more time! Highly recommended for your trip to Maui!

It was a pleasure staying at the beach house. Josh was very accomodating and helpful. The house was great, especially with young children. Everything was excellent :) Highly recommend this house, close to everything but still very peaceful and quiet.

Fantastic
For 6 adults and 2 children was more then enough room. Being right on the ocean front was a best experience we had, having been on all the islands before. House was spotless, all the amenities that we needed for 8 days stay. Centrally located to all the areas we wanted to visit. If we go back to Maui again definitely want the same house again. Mahalo

This house was perfect for our company's business travel. Josh provided everything we needed for our stay and was very accommodating. He communicated well with us since the start of the booking. The house was easy to get to from the Kahului airport and was very close proximity to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. The waterfront location was gorgeous, with lovely scenic views that perfectly exuded a relaxed Maui vibe. The yard was very large, larger than expected, and included many fun added amenities such as a trampoline, dining table, lounge chairs, and tire swing. Furnishings were well-maintained and nothing was damaged or missing. Would definitely stay here again and recommend this to other groups.

Best vacation ever!!!
The beach house was amazing! Very clean. Going to bed with the sound of the ocean and the breeze was so relaxing. My favorite was waking up and watching the locals surf with my cup of tea. Stores were close. There were chairs, boogie boards and snorkeling gear to use. One night I counted 17 whale sightings in under an hour! My family LOVED it there. I would highly, highly recommend the beach house!!

absolute 💎
This place was everything we expected and more. A girlfriend and I stayed her while we waited on our more permanent apartment became available. It is right on the ocean. You look out your sliding glass bedroom door and there is the ocean. We left the door open at night to hear the waves and wake up to the sunshine. It was absolutely perfect. Josh and his family were always readily available for any questions or concerns we had. There was snorkel gear, along with chairs, and an umbrella, which all helped make a trip to the beach even more amazing than it already was. Prepare to relax and take in all that Maui has to offer.

Big house. Stayed with just two people but it's definitely made for bigger parties. Was there for business so the fast internet the house provided was definitely a plus. Owner communicates very quickly and answers to messages really fast.

Hidden Treasure! Great Price!
This is one of those houses that has constant breeze, beautiful sunsets and Beautiful sunrises. Josh and Melissa are gracious and attentive hosts who REALLY care about how our experience was while we were in their home. Plenty of room for our four kids, us and others. Kids can play in the open yard while we enjoyed some wine and watched the waves! I would go back here in a heart beat!
