This is the second time we've stayed at Kamaole Sands with VacaMaui's. It's always great. The kids love the activities. The condo was clean and comfortable.

The location was very convenient and central for all the activities we planned. The host was always very responsible, helpful, and informative, especially whenever something needed attention within the condominium. The host was never intrusive and always waited until we were out of the unit to take care of any details, so we were never inconvenienced. Each time we returned, everything had already been resolved.
The property is very centrally located near Wailea, close to several excellent resorts and great restaurants. The complex also offers many amenities that made our stay even more enjoyable. I truly loved the place and would definitely recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was as described in the advertisement. The location was excellent as a base for going anywhere on the island. The neighborhood was beautiful with really great beaches close by. The resort community had nice amenities and the front desk Staff were super helpful.

Our stay at Kamaole Sands was great. The location was within walking distance of restaurants, shaved ice, shopping, the beach, etc. We used and enjoyed the pool, hot tub, weight room, pickle ball courts and bbq area. The place was clean and spacious, good ac, and laundry in the unit was a huge plus for us. It provided beach chairs, towels, umbrellas for the beach, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, coolers, everything we needed. We’d stay here again in a heart beat!

There was a 70 dollar surprise resort fee and the price we paid for the week was quite a lot so seemed extra to have to pay more. With that said, the place was great, close to beaches, pool and hot tub were awesome, a good variety of beach gear and the view from the balcony was stellar. This would not have deterred us from staying here but would have been nice to know so we could have been more prepared. This is owned by a big establishment and so the personal touches are not there like typical airbnb hosts we have had in the past . The cookware is old, no big beach towels just ones you use for a quick dry, the kitchen drawers were empty no extra seasonings or spices, and felt more like a hotel. Also no shampoo or conditioner but they did have hair dryers so a plus! Again not things that would have kept us from staying here but good to know if you stay here that it’s bare bone amenities.

Thanks for your 5 star review Chelsy! Just to clarify the $70 resort fee is in the listing and we also send an automated message immediately upon booking to make sure you know about the fee. I know it's easy to miss when you're planning a big trip, but we do everything that we can to make sure people are aware of the resort fee. We're not a big establishment. We're a family that own and operate the unit and live right around the corner. With 6 kids, we dislike cluttered units with junk that our kids get into. We purposely keep our units clean and uncluttered. We provide body wash and shampoo/conditioner. We also provide salt, pepper, and canola oil. The beach towels are full size beach towels, but they are made of microfiber. These are the same beach towels that we use as locals living here. They dry much faster and don't get mildew like traditional material can on the islands. Thanks for your review and hopefully this helps clarify some of the details of our unit.

Great place, that accommodated 5 of us. We liked the location. Really beautiful apartment, everything was clean. Loved having the laundry. Great kitchen, just missed a cutting board but we made without. Air conditioner was a must and it kept the place cool.

Great Option for Budget Travelers
We are glad to have chosen this Maui property. It is close to the beach and Maui favorite stops like shops and coffee. Inside was great for family space. Please move the 70 resort fee requirement to the paragraph description or negotiate that charge with the facility - we happened to never use the resort amenities because we were touring elsewhere. A great stay! We enjoyed this condo very much. The loft gives it a more open feel to it. You get partial ocean views from the lanai. Kitchen has a nice selection of cooking utensils. Hosts were communicative and checkin was easy.

Very nice stay
My first stay with VRBO and it was a very positive experience. Check in process was a but complicated as the property was located at a different entrance from the check in office but we figured it out. Its in a very safe and secured neighborhood. The description is true, the beach and park is across the street. It was very clean, beds were comfy, and we appreciated all the extra towels.

Nice duplex in a quiet and secure location.
Well located, 5 minutes from the beach with only one street to cross.
Kitchen with a lot of space and everything you need to cook.
Not far from stores and some shops but a bit of driving to go to the main other places to visit.

we are happy and all expectations met..
its just it took time to look for the building because the front desk lady did not tell us that we will enter to the other gate... we kept driving from the premise to the other farther buildings.. even our guest took a hard time too...
maybe just put some notes that they will enter another gate..

Maui Family vacation

Perfect location across from the beach. Loved the unit; the only downside was the owners of other units in the area were so unfriendly and always angry. Lots of them! Nothing that can be fixed however but enjoyed our stay nonetheless.

Very clean condo. Great location, walking distance to beach, shopping and restaurants. We really enjoyed the resort amenities. The loft offered a nice, bright space and large bathroom, but sound travels a lot through the whole unit, so it is difficult to sleep when others are awake. No games or entertainment in the unit other than cable tv.

We enjoyed the location as it is close to all amenities including a beautiful beach.
We were disappointed with the beds though. Our Daughter, husband and 2 kids found the 2 beds small & uncomfortable with big indents.
My wife and I took the loft room, the bed was uncomfortable, It is a foam mattress with no fitted bottom sheet. The sheets were microfibre and would cling to your body, slide off the mattress and bunch up. When we went to remake it we found the mattress pad was inside out with the rough side up. we decided to wash the bedding and remake the bed.
The mattress pad had two big blood stains on it. This was so disgusting, why not replace it?
Not something you would expect from a super host. The towels were plentiful but smelled even after washing.
Some basics like salt and tin foil would be helpful as well. A smaller table to utilize the balcony and a sun shade to block the morning sun would also help.
A dining room table so we could all eat together would be great.

This place is was in a great location and overall very nice.
Pros
- loved the location, close to beaches and stores!
- complex is great! Pool is nice, and the grounds are very well kept!
- good size for 6 of us, the one room with double beds is a little tight for 4 people, it’s a little smaller than the photos look! But it’s doable!
- beach equipment is amazing! We used the coolers, umbrellas, pool noodles and Tommy bahama chairs almost every day!
- fridge makes a LOT of ice which is great if you need to fill the coolers!
Cons
- lanai is pretty tight… there are 4 chairs outside but with chairs and a fairly large table it made is SUPER tight. For a party or 6 we couldn’t all be outside on the lanai at the same time, even 4 felt tight. Great sunsets from the lanai tho!
- one stools I the kitchen around the island was broken, so we only had 5 instead of 6, so one person always had to stand (we took turns)
Overall this place was great! We made a lot of amazing memories in Maui!

Check in was very easy and the host communicated instructions very well! We were greeted with a thoughtful gift upon arrival as well. The only challenge was the air conditioning for the unit. The upstairs loft was uncomfortably warm even with the fans on.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone visiting Maui.

Great place to stay at with beautiful surroundings and plenty of things to do. Being very close to four great beaches as well as great restaurant spots makes it a great location. The condo area also has a bit of amenities available. The Airbnb itself was extremely spacious and had many appliances available. Though just a bit dirty when we arrived. My only complaint is that the stairs are quite hazardous as my group kept hitting our heads on it. Overall this place is a great alternative to the large and expensive resorts!

My family had a very comfortable and accommodating stay. It was a great location. Walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and shops. The space was clean and modern. We loved staying at Kamaole Sands! We loved that it was close to the beaches, shops, and restaurants. This property gives you a great vacation guide as well. One Night Stay
Our flight to Dallas was cancelled due to ice & snowstorms. Our previous condo reservation had expired and we needed a quick place to stay. This place had 1 night available and we jumped on it. The price was great and this condo met our needs perfectly. It looks just like the pictures represent it. Very well appointed with furnishings, decor and kitchen goods. We wish we could have stayed longer.

We enjoyed our stay at Kamaole sands. The host was accommodative of early check in and very easy to communicate with. The place is lovely. Only thing I would recommend is to read the listing carefully. There is a $70 resort fee that the guest has to pay during check in, which we were not aware of. It is mentioned in the listing though. Overall, our stay was pleasant.

Our stay was quite enjoyable. It was really nice to have a host who was very response, and helpful with anything that we asked or communicated. The location is great and very close to the beach, which was nice, along with being able to walk to eat and get groceries.
Our host also had everything we needed to play at the beach, chairs, umbrellas, and body boards which was really nice.
The kitchen was spacious, yet it was a bit of a tight squeeze for 7 of us but we made it work well!
We were very grateful for the space for our family to be bale to enjoy Maui. Mahalo Nui Loa <3

Great location, appealing aloha vibe in the complex, no problems for our family of 7! Don’t miss the turtles cavorting just south of Kam III beach, only a 5 min walk away. Pricey for the holidays, grateful we could get there amidst all the weather challenges of this travel season.

Wonderful stay. Place might be tricky to find since navigation will lead you through the resort rather than the entrance. The entrance is at South Kihei Rd to the visitor center. Other than that, awesome place close to the beaches and has the amenities listed in the listing. Note that shampoo and conditions are only a day supply so don't forget to bring them!

overall a great comfortable stay. didn't appreciate that I paid a hefty cleaning fee but was still asked to remove trash, do a load in the washer, and wash all dishes. the place was left just as clean as we checked in.

The condo is as it appears in the photos and my group had a very nice stay. There's plenty of room for six people and all their luggage. The unit is on the top floor and we thought it was very quiet and comfortable. The front bedroom has an AC unit that is pretty loud but we didn't mind the white noise at night, especially since the AC did keep the room very cool. Loft is warmer as others have mentioned. The loft, bedroom, and living area all have ceiling fans if more air circulation is needed. The condo includes a beach umbrella, beach towels, and a decent sized cooler with wheels which we made good use of everyday (there's also beach chairs but we didn't use them). The beach is a short stroll to the front of the resort and just right across the street. Kitchen is decently stocked with things needed to make a meal as well as a couple food storage containers to take food to the beach. The knives are a bit dull so cutting pineapples and other fresh fruit was sadly challenging. Washer and dryer worked well. Water pressure in the bathroom and kitchens didn't leave anything to be desired. There was also a vacuum which was useful to clean up the sand that tracks everywhere. Checking-in to pay the resort fee and to get a parking spot was a tad harder in realty than on paper - we drove into the resort via a side gate since G maps lead us there; but one resident provided us the gate code and we drove around the complex till we found the guest check-in building. Use the resort entrance located on the street running parallel with beach - there's no gate with the "front" entrance and if you find the correct entrance, the road should lead you to the center of the resort where you check-in.

Great location across from the beach but there is an additional $70 resort fee. We only stayed one night so we weren’t able to take full advantage of the pool and other amenities. There are boogie boards, chairs and an ice chest for a wonderful day at the beach.

we had a great stay here! communication with the host was very good and got quick replies. If I had to say one negative it would be that the place gets really bright in all the rooms in the morning because there are no black out curtains but that's a personal preference. I would stay here again!

Pros: modern design and good location (right across from a Kamaole III beach and shops/restaurants are nearby)
Tips: Double check the price before you book it…I was prepared for perhaps $600/night but with the extra fees it was close to $1000/nt. Granted it was during spring break but we have been to Maui a half dozen times before and this was much more than we normally pay. Read the cancellation policy (within 48 hours; after that, even if you cancel, you forfeit half the cost).
Communication was prompt and the condo looks like the pics. I think for the cost, I was expecting it to have more amenities we have had at other airbnbs such as a well stocked kitchen, shampoo and conditioner beyond two days, soap, plastic wrap and bags, more than one paper towel roll, a few games or books. It did have 3 boogie boards, 4 beach chairs, and a few sand toys. Thé lanai is a bit small and one of the patio chairs is broken.
If you go into this with less expectations and know you are mostly paying for the modern appearance and location and are ok with the price for that, then it will be fine. We enjoyed our stay here overall but just wished for a few more thoughtful provisions, given the price of the rental.

Fantastic Property
Awesome property exactly as depicted in pictures. Great location walk to beaches and places to eat. Close enough to Wailea that most tours will pick up. Teenage son loved the lofted space whilst girls were. Downstairs. Only reason I did not give five stars was there was the nastiest smell that permeated the apartment when you opened washer but I am sure that is easily fixable by managers. We would absolutely come right back to this apartment on our next visit . Will be hard to beat this quality.

We loved our 8 nights at this property in Kihei! Check-in was easy, parking was convenient, the condo was in a quiet spot and such an easy walk to the beach! Beautiful place and exactly as described. They supply a good amount of beach toys, a cooler, umbrella, and chairs, which was nice. It’s right by beach #3 and grass field which didn’t get crowded. Getting the temperature with a/c and fans was a challenge at first but doable. The upstairs loft is noticeably warmer. Wifi reception isn’t the best in the front bedroom. They supply towels but just enough for a small group. So if you use a lot or used to an endless supply like a hotel, something to think about. Similarly, they only supply a travel size shampoo and conditioner in each bathroom. So be sure to bring/buy your own. They supply hand soap. They have a pool, concierge, and some kind of music? weekly event, which was nice but we didn’t use. Overall, a nice place and good location. Great for sunset. Good value in comparison to other places for my family. (Note there’s around a $70 resort fee at check-in).

Beach right across the street was very convenient along with access to many close activities. The amenities were nice overall. Wifi was reliable for our large group.

Perfect Anniversary Trip….
Location is perfect-directly across from the beach. Rental was very clean. Check in was easy. Unit had beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards. Great utensils. We had a slight problem with the cable (I was signed onto the wrong server) Josh sent a handyman out right away! My only downer was the couch is a bit small-I am 6’ tall. But I only noticed because it rained one day and I wanted to lay out and watch Netflix.

Beautiful place in a great location with easy access to kihei beaches and 10-30 min from others (wailea and kanapalli). Loved the decor. Great supply of beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards. The cooler was awesome too. Quiet and loved the security. Our suggestion was a few more pots/pans and a dish drainer as we didn’t use the dishwasher. Having a washer and dryer was fabulous. The loft does get a bit warm if blinds open, but with the fans and AC on it would cool down.

Great place in a great location! Walking distance to the beach and the place is fully stocked with everything you need for the beach (towels, boogie boards, chairs, snorkeling gear)! The condo is spacious enough and comfortable for 8 adults. The host was super responsive (within minutes) to all of my inquiries which I really appreciated! One thing to note is the walls in the complex are really thin. We were able to hear our neighbor's kids in the morning loud and clear.

Beyond Pleased
Awesome views in a gorgeous condo. This place is spacious and well decorated. Very modern and sleek, beyond what we expected! The views of the mountain and water were also a plus! We rented this place until we could check into our hotel for the week while on a family vacation. There were 6 of us and we all slept comfortably! Great stay! 4 stars instead of 5 because we did not receive an email explaining check-in. When we went to get our parking the pass on the second day of our stay, the front desk staff proceeded to scold us. Also, the kitchen was under stocked - no non stick pans, very few drinking glasses. The beds in the second bedroom were very small - it was close sleeping for our four girls. Otherwise, nice master bed, comfortable seating, lots of amenities, very clean.

Josh’s place is exceptional! The condo is very stylish with some unique features including the magnificent stairs, superb kitchen and beautiful master bedroom. Both bedrooms are spacious with the second bedroom containing two queen beds - great for kids who like their comfort! The condo is very conveniently located within walking distance of many restaurants / stores and the beach is just across the road. The condo is only a short drive away from some of the most beautiful beaches on that side of the island. Josh was very friendly, efficient and helpful and communication was easy at all times. We were able to check in early, which was great. The condo is located in a lovely resort with swimming pool and other facilities. We have stayed in quite a few condos / houses during this holiday, both in Maui and Big Island but this was by far the most luxurious and stylish one. Thank you very much for hosting us, it was a real treat!

Josh was a great host! Answered many of my questions promptly! The place was super clean and modern. I enjoyed having the beach gear the most - boogie boards, snorkeling gear, umbrellas, ice chest, beach towels and chairs! Makes it easy and not wasteful in having to buy the bulky items while in vacation. Easy access with no keys needed. Secure area. (Tried to sit in the car to eat a late meal while my family was sleeping but security didn’t allow it). So it’s safe! The property offered information on tours and activities we could do there and I booked three trips for my family. Super convenient. Ocean is right across from the property. Great place for family. Oh and the washer dryer with detergent!! Thanks again Josh!

Definitely a Hidden Gem! We have a family of eight and this was the perfect property for our needs. Super close to the beach, just a quick walk across the street. All of the beach toys and equipment you need are provided, so no need to rent! On top of everything else, the unit finishes are very nice and the spiral stair case is super cool. Communication was top-notch and check-in was a breeze. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Maui!

Not only the place but Josh the host is so great. He responded so quickly. The place was more than our expectations. Very cozy and all the kitchen equipments are available.
Though we encountered the incident of fire in Maui, the stay at Josh’s place made us forget it.

Large, clean, cool room. The staircase in the center of the living room is outstanding.
We stayed only one night, but hope to stay longer.
You should check the event at the office, they provide complementary event and we enjoyed the hula dance on the pool side.

Josh's place is as advertised - the pictures and descriptions are 100% accurate. He has it set up perfectly as a "home away from home" and is a SUPERB convenient location to Kamaole Beach 3 and other great sites around Kihei. Close enough to walk directly to the beach. The beach gear that Josh has (beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling gear, cooler, etc) were so helpful to have. I had asked Josh several months in advance of our stay if there were any kid's beach toys available which he replied that he doesn't normally keep those there but often families will leave beach toys at the end of their stay. He said he would keep an eye out for those and set them aside for us - which he did!
There was one small issue with the freezer's ice maker not making ice when we arrived and Josh (within just a few hours) was able to send his appliance repair guy to try and fix it that same day. A part needed to be replaced and had to be back-ordered and Josh was good enough to drop off a bag of ice in the freezer so that we had ice for the rest of our stay.
Josh is an A+ host. Prompt communication. Hospitable. His place was the PERFECT place for us to stay - we were sad at the end our stay to have to leave. We hope to back again soon!

Great location, right across from the beach. The unit was clean and well stocked with sheets, pillows, bath towels, beach towels, snorkeling gear, beach umbrellas, chairs, a cooler, boogie boards and even sand toys. The kitchen was fantastic- with utensils required to bake or cook. The property has tennis courts, grills and swimming pools.
If you travel with kids or in a larger group, you can pretty much get frozen food from Costco- stock in the unit and cook a hassle- free meal after a long day at the beach or out trekking. The only items you would need to take along is laundry detergent, bath soap, shampoo and toilet paper if you plan to stay beyond approx 4 days.
Josh is a very responsive host and answered our messages promptly. We will definitely pick a property hosted by him for our future trips.

I imagine that if you are planning to spend several weeks on Maui that this place would work well for you but this was a quick 2 day getaway and I just don’t see the value in renting a place that you have to start laundry, remove your own rubbish and purchase toilet paper (1 roll per bathroom provided). It’s a nice environment, no worry of any bugs, no bad odor and the area is fairly quiet. We had one reserved parking space close to the unit so that was nice. The two smokers in our group were a bit miffed that smoking was not allowed out on the lanai but there was a bench out in the parking area where they were allowed to smoke. This was my first BnB experience and I suppose my expectations were a bit too high.

Josh’s place is amazing! It’s sparkling clean, has plenty of space for 2-3 people and an excellent location. The complex is so nice with a central pool and grill and steps from beach. Josh is very attentive, easy to communicate with and very responsive. He has everything you could ever need and made our stay perfect! There’s boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler with wheels- he has it all! Brand new and renovated, it’s perfect and I highly recommend. We will be back!

The condo is spacious and clean. Great Location. Walking distance to the beach across the street where I was able to catch the sunset. Snorkeling gear, beach chairs, beach umbrellas and coolers were provided which were very useful. Communication with Josh was easy and fast. Highly recommend this place.

This was a WONDERFUL place to stay while we were in Maui. The location is right across from a public park/beach, and it’s within walking distance of restaurants/shopping. The place was stocked with 4 sets of snorkeling gear, beach chairs, boogie boards, a cooler, good beach towels (not the cheap kind)... we were amazed! There was a big screen tv which I watched basketball on (we were there during March Madness) - Josh immediately got back with us when I couldn’t figure out how to get the sound adjusted. He even offered to come over and fix it for us, which I so appreciated. We left a couple of shirts in the condo by accident after we checked out - he’s mailed those to us very helpfully. We really had a wonderful time and having such a great place to stay really pushed our vacation over the top. Cannot recommend enough.

I'm glad that you enjoyed our condo! We try to make the additional fees as obvious as possible. They are posted in our listing twice. I post them in the description and in the additional notes. I messaged you about the additional fees immediately upon your booking when you were still in your grace period to cancel. I messaged you about them two additional times before check in. The taxes are required by the state of Hawaii, but airbnb does not collect them for us. They recommend that we collect them before arrival through the resolution center. They are currently beta testing collecting them for us and have told me that they plan to start collecting them at time of booking sometime in 2019 which will be much more convenient for both owners and guests. Kamaole Sands charges a $60 resort fee to guests upon check in. This applies to all guests. Once again I have it posted in the listing twice and also messaged you about it. I'm sorry you didn't expect the fees. I'm sure you were just excited about your trip and weren't paying close attention, but saying the the fees are not honestly reflected is just not accurate.

Pros: The location is great! The beach across the street is wonderful, there's a great little market nearby and the drive to Wailea and Makena are lovely and easy. The lanai is protected from the winds and rain and was great for sun bathing or reading in the mornings. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need for cooking. Josh is quick to respond and helpful. Washer and dryer and soap is provided. Also, lots of towels and beach towels are provided and that was great.
Cons: The wifi isn't great. There's no cell service here (I have AT&T, so you might have better luck). The living space doesn't have any pillows or throws or anything to give it a cozy, comfy feel. Definitely read the fine print so you're expecting to pay taxes and parking fees on top of the nightly rate. The water leaks out of the shower like a river, but Josh said he's having that fixed, so hopefully you won't have that problem. We had a lot of rain and the roof was leaking, which created a lot of noise from the dripping so we couldn't sleep (Josh will probably have this taken care of ASAP so it shouldn't be an issue for you). Cleaning fee is steep and you're expected to do dishes and take out trash and recycling. Some dishes were put away dirty, which isn't a huge deal but just kind of gross. Also, toilet paper is only provided for the first 24 hours. That's pretty silly to me, especially for the high nightly rate. That should always be taken care of. There was no toilet paper in my bathroom and I learned that a little too late. Also, the way the upstairs is designed, the winds catch the rooftop and create a TON of noise. Napping is nearly impossible if you have any long days exploring.

Josh has an absolutely amazing condo. It is so nice, new, clean. Had every amenity you could want. Snorkel gear. Beach chairs. Beach umbrellas. Boogie boards. Even a real ice chest!!!. The condo is so clean and newly renovated it couldn't be a nicer place to stay. The kitchen was incredible. And the spiral stair case is SO cool. Kamale sands offers great ammenties also. And directly across from the beach and located for all the activities in kehei. It couldnt be any better. Cant wait to stay there again !
