Unsurprisingly, Maui has countless options for fresh fish all over the island. Growing up in a landlocked state far from the ocean, I was skeptical of any fish labeled “fresh.” Fortunately, Maui’s warm waters are teeming with beautiful (and delicious fish) year-round, completely changing my opinion.

It’s hard to go wrong with fish tacos anywhere on Maui, but Coconuts Fish Tacos are a cut above the rest. The grilled fresh caught Mahi Mahi covered in mango salsa and coleslaw make for the perfect post-beach lunch or dinner.
A side of fried Calamari or fries adds a lovely, savory crunch to these sweet and juicy tacos. And don’t forget to grab extra napkins!!
Paia Fish Market has restaurants in Kihei, Paia, and Lahaina (and for a good reason too.) I’ve never been disappointed with my food, even on busy days, but I keep coming back to the fish and chips here.
The fish's nice golden brown crust and flaky white interior go so well with their house-made, hand-cut fries and coleslaw.

This famous haven for seafood lovers is one of the toughest reservations to get on Maui, but everyone seems to share the same opinion, Mama’s has the best fish (and food overall) on Maui.
This upscale fish house has so many rotating top-notch offerings it that a single recommendation wouldn’t be fair to the rest of the menu. If you have the time or are fortunate enough to stumble upon an open reservation, Mama’s will not disappoint.
It was too tough to pick just one option of sushi, so here are two of the best. Miso Phat Sushi is a smaller restaurant that can’t fit many customers at once but makes incredible take-out rolls.
While Isana’s Late Night happy hour is probably the most affordable sushi option on the island, the quality is what land’s it on our list today. Spicy Tuna Rolls, Tempura Shrimp, Salmon Nigiri or Fried Poke are all great options.
If you want fresh fish that you can’t get anywhere else, sushi might be the best way to experience it.
