When you come to Maui, you probably don't want to get dumped on. You probably want a chance to enjoy the beach, get a tan, and come back looking like you were in the tropics. But part of being in the tropics is rainy weather. If you get some rainy weather on your next visit to Maui, never fear! There's plenty of great things to do around the island on a gloomy, misty day.
Maui's Rainy Season
Maui's rainy season runs from November to March, but you'll occasionally get tropical storms or hurricane warnings during the summer that bring a lot of rain. The drizzling skies contribute to lush, green vegetation.
Your location on the island will also determine how much rain you get. If you're staying in Kihei or Wailea in South Maui or Ka'anapali, you won't get that much rain even during the winter season. But if you're in Wailuku or Hana, expect rain all year long!
Most of the time, rain won't last all day; it will be short showers in the afternoons or overnight. Plus, the rain itself is normally pretty warm, so if you want to go on a short hike (away from waterfalls or rivers that could flash flood), you definitely can. Just bring a rain jacket and shoes you don't mind getting muddy!

Maui Ocean Center is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and the entrance fee is a little less than $50.
Grandma's feels exactly like a grandparent's house and is the perfect place for a cozy brunch on a rainy morning. Located up in Kula, you'll get to enjoy a dreamy drive up through the winding hills of Haleakala, and (if the rain isn't too heavy) you'll get to see great views of the valley.
Enjoy a coffee or a chai, and make sure to get the Eggs Benedict! They're delightful.
Warm up with a beer at Maui Brew Co. With an open-air warehouse, you can enjoy the rainy weather without getting wet. Plus, It's a great place to take a big crowd and some table games and post up for a few hours. Depending on how heavy the rain is, they have lawn games outside and live music.

Safety Tips
Don't hike near any waterfalls or streams! Even if it doesn't seem like a lot of rain to you, you never know how much rain has fallen further up the mountains.
If it's raining in your area, it might be sunny somewhere else! So if you don't like the weather where you are, drive ten minutes down the road.
