Spring is one of the best times to visit Maui. Considered a shoulder season, it offers fewer crowds, better deals, and gorgeous weather.
Don't worry; there's still plenty to do on the island during these slower months!
So, what can you do if you visit Maui between April and the first few weeks of June?
If you're not already a pro surfer, spring is a great time to come try your hand at the sport. In Maui, the large swells tend to come during the winter and the summer. The waves start to pick back up again in the spring.
These typically fun-sized smaller waves are perfect for anyone just picking up the sport.
Of course, with any outdoor sport, you'll have the unpredictability of nature, but spring can be a great time to come.
For novice surfers, The Cove in Kihei is an excellent spot, with small waves and a shorter paddle-out. Plus there are plenty of surf schools nearby so you can rent a board or take a lesson!
We have a couple units in Kihei Holiday, a cute complex steps from the beach in North Kihei. You'll get access to a pool and hot tub; each unit has a covered lanai to enjoy. Plus, it's only a ten-minute drive to the Cove!
Check out our Kihei Holiday units here.
Kula Produce has a reputation on the island of Maui. Anything locally grown upcountry is sure to be full of flavor! Plus, you can always feel good about buying local.
The strawberries at the Kula Country Farms are delicious. If you're visiting Maui in the spring, you'll want to head up there for some fun strawberry picking on the slopes of Haleakala.
There are cute photo ops and activities for kids to enjoy, and you'll finish it all off with a basket of strawberries.
This is a great activity to add to a trip to Haleakala or the Ali'i Kula Lavender farm.
This direct oceanfront North shore beach house is so close to the Sand Piles Surf break, and is our closest unit to any upcountry adventures!
It's perfect for a laid-back beach vacation. Check out a full list of the amenities here!
Okay, you probably can't run a marathon on a whim. But if you're planning your Maui adventure for next May, you can sign up and get your training regimen going!
This year's race (2024) was only a half-marathon due to the tragedies in Lahaina. While we're hopeful the full marathon will be available, only time will tell.
Regardless of the length of the race, it's still a really fun way to experience the island of Maui!
The race course is also up in the air, but in 2024, it started at the Sugar Mill and finished at the Maui Tropical Plantation.
As you train, check this website for the full details of next year's race!
Any of our units in Maalaea are perfect for a race weekend stay! They're conveniently located near the Maui Tropical Plantation and have fantastic ocean views.
Plus, each condo offers access to a pool and easy access to the beach.
