Are you planning a family reunion or just trying to get the group trip out of the chat? If you are, you're probably trying to nail down the best Maui vacation rentals for large groups!
Once accommodation is handled you can start planning the fun stuff— like whale-watching excursions or a Haleakala sunrise tour.
If you've clicked on this post, chances are you've already decided you want to rent a couple of condos next to each other as your home base. If you haven't, you might be wondering what the pros and cons of a condo versus a traditional hotel might be. (If you have, please scroll ahead for some of our condo suggestions).
While it's a bit easier to book hotels for large groups (all you do is ask for a few rooms next to each other), they limit you in terms of what you can do.
Most condos have full kitchens, living rooms and outdoor lanai to enjoy and spread out. Want all the introverts in the group to love you? Take this into account!
No matter how much you love each other, having space for yourself is important. Especially if you're all going to be doing every activity together. Prolonged quality time typically leads to some grouchy behavior.
It's important to consider the fact that many condos have full kitchens. This can be a pro or a con, depending on how you feel about cooking on vacation!
Food prices on Maui are pretty high, so you can save a few extra bucks by cooking some meals at home. Plus, cooking together is a fun bonding experience.
Shop at the local farmers market and try some local Hawaiian recipes together.
Not sure where to start? Chef Sheldon, a Hawaii local, owns a few restaurants on Maui and has a lot of great recipes.
Pro Tip: If you have a Costco membership, that's the place to go for groceries. You'll get way more bang for your buck buying in bulk. Especially for items such as milk and eggs.
Typically, condos won't have room service, so you'll need to wash your towels and clean up after yourself to have a tidy space.
That does mean you'll have access to your own washer/dryer (although not every condo has this, so make sure to look for that when booking). Since you'll be able to wash your clothes, you can pack less and save space for souvenirs!
Just as many different hotels offer different amenities, different condo complexes also offer different perks. Depending on what your group is looking for, you'll definitely want to keep that in mind.
Almost all the hotels and condo complexes in Maui have access to a pool. Some have jacuzzis, gyms, or tennis/pickleball courts too.

If you've decided the condo life is for you, you've probably already taken a peak at Airbnb or VRBO to see what's out there.
While those websites will have the biggest selection of condos listed, it's a good thing to pay attention to who is listing them on Airbnb or VRBO.
Why? Because both of those travel sites will charge an additional booking fee for using their platform to book!
It's always a better deal to book directly through the property manager or owner to avoid those additional fees. (Like VacaMaui— we won't charge you a service fee for booking with us!)
So take a peak on there and then see if you can book the unit you want directly instead of going through the third-party travel website.
We've got a couple of really great Maui Vacation Rentals for large groups. They're in the same condo complex, have reasonable nightly rates and you can expect nothing but great service from us.
Our units have all been recently remodeled, which means you don't have to worry about one group getting an outdated and gross condo. You're all guaranteed a comfortable, clean, and modern experience if you book with VacaMaui.
We've got three units at Hale Kamaole. This complex is in a fantastic location right across from the ever-popular Kamaole Beach Park 3. (One of the best white sand beaches for swimming, snorkeling, and even boogie boarding!)
Between the three units, you could accommodate a group of 25 people!
246 Hale Kamaole can accommodate 7, while 257 and 337 Hale Kamaole can both accommodate 9 people.
While the units aren't right next to each other, you'll find them to be just a quick walk away, making it easy for everyone to hang out and enjoy their time together.
Haleakala Shores Maui is another fantastic little complex right across the street from Kamaole Beach Park III. With just a quick walk to one of the best beach parks on the south side, you'll find this complex to be in an amazingly central location.
Within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and coffee (a need), Haleakala Shores is a small complex with charming views.
We've got two condos in the A building (A-304 and A-312), and two in the B building (B-204 and B-407) that can each accommodate a maximum of 6 people.
With spacious living rooms, big TV, and cute covered lanais, there's plenty to love. Check them out!
Typically, yes! Vacation rentals will offer a cheaper nightly rate and give you the option of cooking food at home, saving on food costs.
Rental costs vary depending on the location, time of year, and size of the unit, but can be as low as $100 a night.
Maui is a beautiful place to travel no matter the time of year, but you'll find the best surfing in the summer, whales in the winter, and fantastic snorkeling in the spring.
We're biased— VacaMaui.com! Although you'll find a much wider selection of units on Airbnb and VRBO. Just be prepared to pay a hefty service fee.
You're well on your way to getting your large group vacation planned and on the calendar. Whether you decide the condo life or a hotel stay is for you, you're bound to have an amazing time on this gorgeous island.
